Social communication and embodied cognition
Gün R. Semin is predominantly concerned with interfacing mind, body, and behavior and examining human functioning within a social and physical context. His planned research is anchored in analyzing social communication, which is supported by the FCT Investigator program.
Thinking and reasoning
Ana Cristina Quelhas’s work focuses on human cognition, with special emphasis on deductive reasoning and counterfactual thinking, and investigations of such cognitive functions in clinically depressed samples.
The regulatory function of feeling states
Teresa Garcia-Marques investigates feelings as an important component in understanding thinking, reasoning, and acting. Additionally, she examines the distinctive contribution of familiarity and fluency to intuitive and rational processing underlying different judgments and other uses of memory.
